Swarm of bees forces activities cancellation

Village of Kenmore

Monday, April 26 • A Wabash Avenue resident reported that his ladder was stolen.

• An Elmwood Avenue convenience store clerk reported that a male with short blond hair stole beer. According to the report, the male was seen leaving the store in a silver van.

• A caller reported that there was a male drinking beer in an Elmwood Avenue lot. An officer was unable to locate the man.

• There was a report that a group of girls was fighting on Delaware Avenue. An officer reported that the girls were having a verbal dispute. They were advised and sent on their way.

Tuesday, April 27

• A Kenmore Avenue store clerk reported that a male customer threw items on the floor. The male, who was wearing a hooded sweatshirt, then left the store in an unknown direction.

Wednesday, April 28

• A suspicious person was reportedly sitting in a vehicle parked in a Kenmore Avenue storage facility lot. An officer reported that the male lived nearby and was just taking a break before finishing repairs on his MP3 player.

• A female reported that there was an open fire hydrant on Elmwood Avenue. The Department of Public Works was notified to shut off the water.

Thursday, April 29

• A Palmer Avenue resident reported that youths were hitting pucks at houses while playing hockey in the street. An officer reported that the youths were advised to take it easy when shooting the puck.

Friday, April 30

• A male at a LaSalle Avenue store reported that he has a disgruntled employee causing a disturbance at the business. The subject was advised to stay off the premises and was sent on his way.

• A caller reported a swarm of bees in a bush on a south-side corner of a Delaware Road educational center. The Department of Public Works was notified, and the educational center canceled all outdoor activities for the day.

Saturday, May 1

• A female Delaware Road resident reported that a swarm of bees was on her neighbor’s house. An officer assisted the homeowner in finding someone to remove the bees.

• A Stillwell Avenue resident reported that a male in a garage behind her house was yelling and swearing before she heard the sound of him breaking glass. According to the report, the male told an officer that he had received some bad news that day. The officer reported that the male was advised.

• A female Nassau Avenue resident reported that a loud screeching noise was coming from her residence. An officer reported that a carbon monoxide detector had been activated within the home. Members of the Kenmore Fire Department found that it was a faulty alarm.

Wednesday, May 2

• A Washington Avenue female reported that an unknown person urinated on her property in the basement.
