Book sale set at Kenmore Mercy

The Kenmore Mercy Hospital Auxiliary will host its Christmas Books R Fun event from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 7, and Wednesday, Dec. 8, in the hospital atrium, 2950 Elmwood Ave., Tonawanda. A wide selection of children’s books, and games, as well as notes, cards, and books for adult gift-giving will be available.

Blessed Sacrament site for healing Mass

Ken East hosting financial aid night

Kenmore East High School will be hosting a financial aid night from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2. St. Nick Nite meal set at Blessed Sacrament

Blessed Sacrament Church, 263 Claremont Ave., Kenmore, will host a holiday dinner from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, in the parish’s center blue building. There is a ticket donation of $25 for a chance at $10,000 in prizes. The event will also feature a gift basket raffle and 50/50 raffle.

Blood drive, basket raffle for Cancer Society

 

The second annual Stick it to Cancer blood drive and basket raffle, which benefit the Town of Tonawanda Paramedics, American Cancer Society and Red Cross, will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at VFW Post 7275, 3741 Walden Ave., Lancaster. Admission will be $10 per person and free for children 10 and younger and presenting blood donors. Valparaiso Guild hosting Candlelight Vespers

The 55th annual Christmas Candlelight Vespers will be held Sunday, Dec. 5, at First Trinity Lutheran Church, 1570 Niagara Falls Blvd., Tonawanda. There are two programs: the first is at 4 p.m. and then there is a 7 p.m. performance. The Trinity Lutheran Church of West Seneca Bell Choir will perform 15 minutes prior to the start of Vespers. The children's choirs of the Church of the Nativity, United Church of Christ, Tonawanda, will be featured at both programs.

AARP driver safety class scheduled

Assemblyman Robin Schimminger, D-Kenmore, is sponsoring the AARP Driver Safety Program two-class course being held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday and Friday, Dec. 1 and 3, at the Kenmore Community Center, 135 Wilbur Ave. The cost is $12 for AARP members with a membership card and $14 for nonmembers and must be paid at the first class. Ken-Ton Masonic Lodge offering all-you-can-eat

Cassiopeua Triangle Chapter 202 will be having an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 5, at the Ken-Ton Masonic Lodge Hall, 190 Minerva St., Tonawanda. The cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children under 12 years of age and free for children under 2. Call 731-5019.

Christmas party set for Dec. 9

The Town of Tonawanda Senior Center will host its annual Christmas Party from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9 at Classic V Banquet Center, 2425 Niagara Falls Blvd., Amherst. Admission is $29 for members and $31 for non members.

Kenmore Mercy starts holiday concert series

Kenmore Mercy Hospital's Songs of the Season, a free concert series, begins with a performance from The Lord’s Talents from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Eggertsville at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 7 at Kenmore Mercy Hospital, 2950 Elmwood Ave., Tonawanda, in the Atrium.

Legion Band performing at Riviera Theatre

The American Legion Band of the Tonawandas Post 264 will perform at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, at the Riviera Theatre, 67 Webster St., N. Tonawanda. Tickets are $8 in advance; $10 at the door, and $8 for those 12 years of age and younger. Call 692-2413.

Kenmore Garden Club hosting Christmas lunch

The Kenmore Garden Club will hold its annual Christmas Luncheon, “An Old Fashioned Christmas,” at 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 14 at Richards, 561 Main St., in Tonawanda. Fibromyalgia support group meeting slated

 

The Fibromyalgia Support Group meets from noon to 1:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of every month at the Amherst Main Library at Audubon, study group room, 350 John James Audubon Parkway, Amherst. Hope for Cats looking for auction items

Hope for Cats, a nonprofit sanctuary, is seeking donations for its vendor fair/basket auction from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4. The event will be held at Magruders Restaurant, 4995 Broadway, Depew. Gift baskets, gift certificates and raffle items are needed. All of the funds raised by Hope for Cats Inc. are used to purchase food, supplies and provide veterinary care at Jake’s Place, a cat shelter and adoption center serving Buffalo and its suburbs, and for cats in foster homes. A book exchange will be held at 6:30 p.m. Mondays and 9 to 11 a.m. Thursdays at the Town of Tonawanda Police Satellite office, 169 Sheridan Parkside Drive. In addition to the book exchange, participants can also knit, crochet, play chess, read a book, work on a puzzle or mingle with other members. Membership is free.
