Herbert J. Roswell, Kenmore East art teacher
Roswell Herbert J. Roswell, 81, of Tonawanda, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012.
Mr. Roswell was born in Buffalo and was a graduate of Technical High School. He attended Washington University and earned a bachelor’s degree in art education from Buffalo State College and a master’s degree in art education from the University at Buffalo.
He served two years in the Army during the Korean War and attended radio school in Japan before being sent to Korea.
Mr. Roswell began his teaching career at Kenmore High School and moved to Kenmore East High School in 1959 when the school opened. He taught for a total of 39 years, and Kenmore East recently announced plans to establish a Herb Roswell Fine Arts Scholarship. He was a member of the Arts Council in Buffalo & Erie County, Albright-Knox Art Gallery, New York State United Teachers and the Academy of Model Aeronautics.
He was a model airplane enthusiast.
Mr. Roswell is survived by two sons, Lawrence H. and Marc E.; one daughter, Dawn R. Wilkinson; and his companion, Antoinette Sampieri.
