Male arrested for DWI after snowbank collision

Friday, Jan. 13

A clerk at a Delaware Avenue gas station reported that there was a male sleeping in his vehicle, which was parked at the pump. An officer reported that the male was OK and was sent on his way. An officer reported moving a branch from the roadway and a large pile of snow from the corner of Kenmore Avenue at Colvin Boulevard.

Saturday, Jan. 14

An assistant manager at a Delaware Avenue store reported that an employee located herself in the back room after having a dispute with a customer. An officer reported that the dispute was a result of the employee being late for her shift. A Somerton Avenue neighbor reported that a Delaware Avenue car dealership employee was parking vehicles in the driveway of a vacant home. An officer reported that the employee was advised not to park vehicles in that driveway. The same complainant called back 10 minutes later to report that the employee was again parking a vehicle in his neighbor’s driveway. An officer issued a parking tag on the vehicle. A Wabash Avenue resident reported that her shed was damaged. An officer reported that a lock was ripped off the shed door and that the complainant would purchase a new lock. An Elwood Avenue auto parts store manager reported that an employee admitted to stealing from the company, and he would like the employee arrested. The male was taken into custody.

Sunday, Jan. 15

A West Hazeltine Avenue resident requested assistance with checking the side of her house for damage because her neighbor was snow blowing the driveway and some of the snow hit the side of her house. An officer reported that assistance was rendered and there wasn’t any damage to the property. A Shepard Avenue resident reported that the former upstairs tenants left the water running in their apartment after they moved out and that the water was leaking into the basement. An officer reported that he was unable to turn off the valve because it was frozen. The complainant was then advised to contact her landlord.

Monday, Jan. 16

A Shepard Avenue resident complained that a tenant in an upper apartment was causing a disturbance by vacuuming just after midnight. An officer reported that the area was quiet but he stood by as the upstairs tenant removed the last of his packages from the apartment.

A male was arrested after a caller observed a blue Oldsmobile strike a snowbank in front of a Military Road address after swerving all over the road. An officer reported that the male who was operating the vehicle was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

A female Wabash Avenue resident reported that her ex-boyfriend showed up at her house and began throwing pennies at her window. An officer reported that the male left the area.

Tuesday, Jan. 17

An Elmwood Avenue female, who sounded intoxicated, stated that her son was locked out of his Victoria Boulevard home for being a minute late. The woman requested that police locate the male and see if he can be let into his house. Police were unable to locate him. The woman then called back to report that he had returned to the residence.

Thursday, Jan. 19

A Mang Avenue resident reported that the light by the tennis court and playground was off. An officer reported that the light is cycling. It was placed on the Department of Public Works list for repair. There was a report of street flooding caused by a water main break on the northeast corner of Colvin Boulevard and Stillwell Avenue. The Department of Public Works was notified.
