Turners top the podium at Graffiti Invite
Members of the Buffalo Turners girls gymnastics teams once again stood atop the podium at the Winter Graffiti Invitational hosted by Flips Gymnastics at the Niagara Falls Conference Center, Jan. 7 and 8.
The Level 8 team took second place in the team competition. Aaliyah Blanks and Anndea Zeigler took third place All Around in their age divisions with Blanks winning on Bars and Beam, while Zeigler also won Beam. In the 15-and-over group, Aja Devlin took first All Around with first on Bars. Lara Krys finished third All Around and third on Bars. Olivia Graziano placed third on Beam and sixth All Around. Shannon Finucane finished ninth on Beam and Emily Battaglia placed second on Bars.
The Level 6 team of Grace Graney, Mikala Thursam, Meadow Wright, Molly Denman and Alexandria Gorcheck placed second in the team competition. Thursam, Graney and Wright finished first, second and third respectively on Beam in their age group with Thursam finishing second and Wright third on floor. In the 12-and-over age group, Gorcheck took first All Around, winning both Bars and Beam while Denman won Floor.
The Level 7 team of Alexandrea Piehler, Olivia VeRost, Emily Maulucci and Dakota Piehler took fourth in the team competition. Ali Piehler and VeRost took second and third on Bars as well as sixth and seventh All Around respectively. Maulucci finished fifth on Beam and Dakota Piehler placed eighth on Bars in the 13-year-old group.
