Column does not offer whole story
In last week’s edition, Dave Sherman’s column on President Obama’s rejection of the Keystone XL pipeline gave one side of the story.
It’s quite obvious that Mr. Sherman is a Republican. His story leaves out an important part of the Keystone Pipeline.
Last December, while negotiating the payroll tax cut extension, the Republicans agreed to pass this tax cut, (which would help millions of Americans), only if Obama made a decision on approval of the pipeline within 60 days.
They knew this was not nearly enough time for the thorough review needed for this size a project. Obama, at the recommendation of the Department of State, did not give his approval, stating that more time is needed to evaluate the pipeline’s environmental impact on our country.
He has never stated he would not approve, and in the future will approve (the pipeline), thus creating the jobs this country so badly needs. This approval will be given only when we are totally satisfied it is done safely and environmentally sound.
Mr. Sherman knows this and as an editor of your newspaper should be required to give the entire story and not just the part that matches the opinions of his political party.
