Town of Tonawanda Senior Center
The Town of Tonawanda Senior Center, 291 Ensminger Road, announces that the following events will take place at the center:
Upcoming events:
Tax help — Volunteers from AARP will be offering assistance in filing taxes. All forms will be filed electronically. Participants will receive a printout of the return that is filed for them. Appointments will be scheduled through April 12 and will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays and Thursdays. There is no charge for this service, and seniors are asked to bring last year’s tax return with them.
Lawyer counseling — Anthony Cerrone, attorney and counselor, will be available once a month to answer your questions in a one on one setting. He will be at the Senior Center from 2 to 3 p.m., March 7 and April 5. Topics that can be addressed: outdated wills, an executor, cost of will, and trusts.
AARP 55 Alive Defensive Drive Course— The Senior Center is registering for the following Mondays: May 7 and June 4. Call the office to register at 874-3266. Prices for driving course for 2012 are AARP members, $17/ non-members, $19.

The following activities will take place
at the Mang Branch, 135 Wilbur Ave., in
Kenmore:
Pinochle, social time, cards, Canasta,
Rummikub and billiards from 9:30 a.m. to
11:30 a.m. every Thursday. There is a
lunch break at 11:30 a.m., then at 12:30
p.m., there is a bingo match.
Schofield Center
The following events will be held at
Schofield’s Adult Wellness Center, 3333
Elmwood Ave., in the Town of Tonawanda. “Effects of Stroke on Communication and Swallowing” at 1 p.m.
Wednesday, Feb. 8. A speech-language
pathologist will discuss how a stroke can
affect communication and swallowing
abilities, and how speech therapy can
help.
Hearing Loss & Dizziness: What Do
They Have in Common? at 1 p.m.
Wednesday Feb. 22. Salvatore Gruttadauria, doctor of Audiology, will help
you to understand the causes of hearing
loss and dizziness and how they relate to
balance problems. Most importantly,
learn how these problems can be helped.
Dr. Gruttadauria will provide information on hearing aids, vestibular rehabilitation, and information on other hearing
devices.
Kenmore Art Society member
Lawrence Brown is exhibiting his oil
paintings, “Oils by Larry,” at the
Schofield Residence Nursing Facility
through Friday, Feb. 24. The paintings
are available for purchase. The display is
free and open to the public from 10:30
a.m. to 8:30 p.m. daily.
