Citizen’s Police Academy seeking participants

The Village of Kenmore Police Department is offering an inside look into the day-to-day responsibilities of law enforcement officers.

Kenmore Detective David Lewandowski invites those interested to contact him and sign up for the upcoming Citizen’s Police Academy sponsored by the Kenmore Police Department.

The Citizen’s Police Academy provides Kenmore residents and business people an opportunity to learn more about the Kenmore Police Department through an informational and interactive educational program that explores the daily operation and services provided by the department. Participants will engage in interactive instruction both in and out of the classroom.

Class instruction includes 911 Emergency Dispatch Systems, New York State Penal Law, patrol procedures, D.A.R.E, canine demonstration, accident investigations, training procedures, juvenile aid bureau, Detective Bureau, crime scene investigations and family offenses.

In addition, students will participate in a patrol ride-along and tours of the Erie County Holding Center and Kenmore Police Department.

Classes for the 10-week program will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15.
