The YWCA Tonawandas has begun accepting applications for the Thomas Edison Elementary and Alexander Hamilton Elementary Before and After–School programs. This school-aged child care program is not just for children whose parents work earlier or later than school hours. All children can benefit from their experience at the YWCA Tonawandas, according to the organization. They are allotted special time for homework and homework help before beginning the activities for the day. Information and applications are available at www.ywcatonawandas.org.

The Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda School District is offering free training to qualified individuals in the field of medical secretary. Dislocated workers, displaced homemakers, the economically disadvantaged or those with a physical handicap may be eligible. The program offers classroom instruction with on-the-job training at Kenmore Mercy Hospital. Funds may be available for transportation for eligible students.
