Kenmore Garden Club slated to meet at church

The Kenmore Garden Club will meet next at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at Kenmore United Methodist Church, 32 Lander Road, Kenmore. There will be a program on pressing flowers, presented by Dorothy Julius, owner of Along Garden Paths.

‘Jewelry is fun’ sale slated at Kenmore Mercy

The Kenmore Mercy Hospital Auxiliary will hold “Jewelry is Fun” from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, in the atrium of the hospital, 2950 Elmwood Ave. A variety of costume jewelry and novelty items will be available.

Healing Mass slated for Sept. 10 at church

An “Anointing of the Sick Healing Mass in honor of St. Peregrine” will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, at Blessed Sacrament Church, 263 Claremont Ave., Town of Tonawanda. Those afflicted with cancer, or in need of special healing, are invited to attend. For more information, call 283-0011.

‘Scrubs Sale’ to take place Sept. 12 at hospital

The Kenmore Mercy Hospital Auxiliary will hold a “Scrubs Sale” from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at the hospital, 2950 Elmwood Ave. There will be a large assortment of clothing, shoes and other related items available for purchase. Proceeds benefit the hospital.

Class on kidney health slated for Sept. 25

A free class on kidney health will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at Northtowns Dialysis Center, 4041 Delaware Ave., Tonawanda. To register, call 871-8103 or visit the website www.kidneysmart.org/class.

Pilgrim Lutheran Church to hold basket raffle

Pilgrim Lutheran Church will hold a basket raffle from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at the Eldridge Bicycle Club, 17 Broad St., Tonawanda. There will be a Krolick’s chicken dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. Presale tickets are $9 and include one sheet of raffle tickets, or $10 at the door. For more information, contact Rhonda at 352-3060.

Volunteers sought for tax-assistance

The Kenmore AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Program is seeking volunteer tax preparers for the upcoming tax season. Extensive training is provided before the tax season. Volunteers work from February to April. No accounting background is necessary. If interested, call 683-0770 by Oct. 20.

Jewelry, ties, scarves to go on sale at hospital

“The House of Nacre” will be holding a sale of pearl jewelry, silk ties and scarves from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, in the atrium at Kenmore Mercy Hospital, 2950 Elmwood Ave.

Church to hold chicken and baked goods sale

Augustana Lutheran Church will hold a chicken chowder and baked goods sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at the church, 3143 Eggert Road. The event will be indoors, and both takeout and eat-in are available. The church is wheelchair-accessible. For more information, call 832-5720.

Kenmore Presbyterian to host flu clinic

Kenmore Presbyterian Church will host a flu clinic from noon to 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, in the fellowship hall at the church, 2771 Delaware Ave. Attendees should bring an insurance card or pay the small co-pay. Riviera Theatre to feature Frankie Avalon Sept. 20

The Riviera Theatre will feature a performance by Frankie Avalon at 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at 67 Webster St., North Tonawanda. The doors open at 7 p.m., and the Mighty Wurlitzer organ plays at 7:30 p.m. Tickets to the performance, titled “Frankie Avalon - Celebrating the Music You Love,” are $56 for preferred seating, and all other seating is $46.
