NOTICE OF A PUBLIC HEARING AND DISTRICT VOTE OF THE SWEET HOME CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT OF AMHERST AND TONAWANDA, NEW YORK:

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a Public Hearing of the inhabitants of the Sweet Home Central School District of Amherst and Tonawanda, qualified to vote at School Meetings of said District will be held at the Sweet Home High School, 1901 Sweet Home Road, in said school district on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. (EDST), for the purpose of discussion on the expenditure of funds and the budgeting thereof for the year 2015–2016.

And Notice is also given that the annual meeting and election of the Sweet Home Central School District, Erie County, New York, will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 from 7:00 am (EDST) to 9:00 pm (EDST) at the Norman Vergils Community Center, located at the north end of the high school behind the District Office for the purpose of voting on the budget for the 2015-16 fiscal year and the purpose of electing two members of the Board of Education for a five-year term. Voting will be by voting machine as provided by the Education Law.

Applications for absentee ballots may be obtained from the Office of the School District Clerk, 1901 Sweet Home Road, Amherst, New York. Completed applications for absentee ballots must be received by the School District Clerk’s Office on or before May 12, 2015 if the absentee ballot is to be mailed to the voter for completion. Applications may be filed on or before May 18, 2015 if the absentee ballot is to be picked up by the voter at the District Clerk’s Office. Completed absentee ballots must be received by the District Clerk’s Office by 5:00 p.m. on the day of the vote. A list of persons to whom absentee ballots have been issued will be available in the Office of the School District Clerk on each of the five days prior to the election during regular office hours [Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.] and posted at the polling place on election day.

And Notice is also given that the petitions nominating candidates for the office of member of the Board of Education must be filed with the Clerk of the District between the hours of 8:00 a.m. (EDST) and 5:00 p.m. (EDST) no later than Monday, April 20, 2015. Candidates, either in person or by written proxy, will draw lots at 3:00 p.m. (EDST) on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 in the office of the District Clerk, Sweet Home High School, 1901 Sweet Home Road, Amherst, for positions on the voting machine.

If additional propositions are added either by voter proposition and/or Board of Education resolution will be included in future publications. Forms to be used for petitions to add propositions for voter consideration and explanation of the requirements of such petitions can be obtained from the District Clerk.

And Notice is also given that copies of the Budget for the school year 2015 – 2016 will be available to any taxpayer of the District from April 24, 2015 until the date of the election at any school of the district between the hours of 8:00 a.m. (EDST) and 3:30 p.m. (EDST).

And Notice is also given that the Board of Education meetings in May will be held on May 5, 2015 and May 12, 2015.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the annual meeting and election of the Kenmore Town of Tonawanda Union Free School District will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2015, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. (EST) for the purposes of voting, by voting machine, on the appropriation of the necessary funds to meet the District’s estimated expenditures for the fiscal year commencing July 1, 2015 and ending June 30, 2016; and electing one (1) member of the Board of Education. The voting will occur at:

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that personal registration of voters is required either pursuant to Section 2014 of the Education Law or pursuant to Article 5 of the Election Law. If a voter has heretofore registered pursuant to Section 2014 of the Education Law and has voted at an annual or special district meeting within the last four (4) calendar years, he/she is eligible to vote at this election; if a voter is registered and eligible to vote under Article 5 of the Election Law, he/she is also eligible to vote at this election. All other persons who wish to vote must register.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the Board of Registration will meet for the purpose of registering all qualified voters of the District at the Administration Building, 1500 Colvin Boulevard, Town of Tonawanda, New York on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. (EST) and again on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and noon (EST) to add any additional names to the Register to be used at the aforesaid election, at which time any person will be entitled to have his/her name placed on such Register, provided that at such meeting of the Board of Registration he/she is known or proven to the satisfaction of said Board of Registration to be then or thereafter entitled to vote at such election for which the Register is prepared. The final register of voters will be filed in the Office of the District Clerk of the District at 1500 Colvin Boulevard, Town of Tonawanda, New York, and will be open for inspection by any qualified voter of the District on May 16, 2015, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. (EST) and on each day thereafter that is prior to the date set forth for the election, except Sundays, and at the polling places on the day of the vote.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the Board of Education will hold a public hearing to present the budget of the necessary funds to meet estimated expenditures for the ensuing school fiscal year for school purposes on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at 6:30 p.m. (EST) at Kenmore West High School in the East Cafeteria, 33 Highland Parkway, Buffalo, New York.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that pursuant to Section 1716 of the Education Law, the Board of Education of the District will have prepared and completed a detailed statement in writing of the amount of money which will be required for the ensuing 2015-2016 fiscal year, for school purposes, exclusive of public moneys, specifying the several purposes and the amount of each, and copies of such statement will be available, upon request, to taxpayers within the District during the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. (EST) on or after May 5, 2015, in the Principal’s office in each of the school buildings in the District and at the District’s Administration Building, 1500 Colvin Boulevard, Town of Tonawanda, New York (except Saturdays, Sundays and holidays) and at the voting location.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the vote upon the appropriation of the necessary funds to meet the estimated expenditures for the Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda Union Free School District for the 2015-2016 school fiscal year will be presented as PROPOSITION NO. 1 at the election held as above specified.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the following PROPOSITION NO. 2 related to the purchase of buses and equipment will be presented for a vote at such meeting: the Board of Education of the Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda Union Free School District, in the County of Erie, New York (the “District”), is hereby authorized to purchase various school buses and similar vehicles (and related equipment) for use in the transportation program of the District, and to expend therefor, including for preliminary and incidental costs relating thereto and to the financing thereof, an amount not to exceed the estimated maximum cost of $1,600,208 and that the sum of $1,600,208 (or so much thereof as may be necessary, plus an amount necessary for the payment of interest thereon) shall be raised by the levy of a tax upon the taxable property of the District and collected in annual installments as provided by Section 416 of the Education Law, and, in anticipation of such tax, bonds or other obligations (including, without limitation, obligations arising under leases, lease/purchase contracts or installment purchase contracts having a term of not more than five years) of the District shall be issued or entered into in accordance with applicable provisions of New York State law.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the following PROPOSITION NO. 3 will be presented for a vote at such meeting: that the Board of Education of the Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda Union Free School District, in the County of Erie, New York (the “District”), is authorized to modify student transportation eligibility limits beginning in the 2016-2017 school year as follows:

Kindergarten through Grade 4 students: eligibility for bus transportation is 0.5 miles or greater;

Grade 5 through Grade 7 students: eligibility for bus transportation is 0.75 miles or greater; and

Grade 8 through Grade 12 students: eligibility for bus transportation is 1.0 miles or greater.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that there shall be conducted at such Annual School District Meeting and Election voting for the election of one (1) member of the Board of Education. The one (1) vacancy shall be for a term of three (3) years commencing July 1, 2015;

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that pursuant to Section 2018 of the Education Law, petitions nominating candidates for the office of member of the Board of Education shall be filed in the Office of the District Clerk of the District, 1500 Colvin Boulevard, Town of Tonawanda, New York, Monday through Friday (except holidays) between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. (EST), not later than Monday, April 20, 2015. Vacancies on the Board of Education are not considered separate, specific offices; candidates run at large. Nominating petitions shall not describe any specific vacancy upon the Board for which the candidate is nominated; must be directed to the Clerk of the District; must be signed by at least two percent (2%) of the voters voting in the last annual election (such two percent (2%) equals sixty-two (62) voters of the District); must state the name and residence of each signer, and must state the name and residence of the candidate. Candidates must be a qualified voter of the District and have been a resident in the District for at least one year prior to election.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that absentee ballots can be obtained during school business hours from the Office of the District Clerk, 1500 Colvin Boulevard, Town of Tonawanda, New York. Completed applications must be received by the District Clerk or his designee at least seven (7) days before the election if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the Annual School District Meeting and Election if the ballot is to be personally issued to the voter. Absentee ballots must be received in the Office of the District Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. (EST) on May 19, 2015.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that a list of persons to whom absentee ballots are issued will be available for inspection to qualified voters of the District in the Office of the District Clerk on and after May 15, 2015 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. (EST), Monday through Friday, (except holidays). Any qualified voter may, upon examination of such list, file a written challenge of the qualifications as a voter of any person whose name appears on such list, stating the reasons for such challenge. Such written challenge shall be transmitted by the clerk to the Chief Election Inspector on May 19, 2015.

AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of Education of this District has adopted Rules for the Use of Voting Machines and the Submission of Questions or Propositions to be Placed Thereon, and printed copies for general distribution in the District are available at the office of the District Clerk located in the District offices, 1500 Colvin Boulevard, Town of Tonawanda, New York.
