Library hours Spring hours are as follows: noon to 8 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The library is closed Saturdays and Sundays.

Library events

A drop-in coloring clinic takes place from 5 to 8 p.m. every Monday. The library provides an assortment of coloring projects and colored pens, pencils, markers and crayons set out in the main reading room. Registration isn’t required. A book discussion will be held from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 3. The group will be discussing “Our Souls at Night” by Kent Haruf. Spring hours are as follows: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Preschool Story Time, for children ages 3-5, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 20 and 27. Participants can enjoy stories, fingerplays, songs and crafts. Space is limited, and registration is required. Teen Gaming will take place at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 25. Drop in after school to play video games on the Nintendo Wii, or challenge friends to board and card games. The program is for teens ages 12 to 17. Sensory Story Time will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 27. The story time is designed for children with sensory issues or those who are on the autism spectrum. Sensory story time is a small group atmosphere with songs, stories and activities that will help children feel comfortable joining in every week. Children up to age 12 are welcome to attend. Preschool Story Time, for children ages 3-5 years old without an adult, will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, April 24. Registration is required. Toddler Time Story Time, for children ages 2-3 years old with an adult, will be held from 9:45 to 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, April 25. Registration is required. Family Story Time, for ages 2-5 with an adult caregiver, will be held from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. Monday, April 24. Registration is required. Book Babies Story Time, for children ages 3-23 months with an adult, will be held at 9:45 a.m. Thursday, April 20. Registration is required.

“Boots, Bootleggers and Patriots” will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 27. Local author Tim Shannon will discuss the Pan American Exposition, World War I and the Great Depression. Registration is required. The Swiftwater Reading Club will meet from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday, April 25. “Daring: My Passages” by Gail Sheehy will be discussed. New readers are welcome to attend. A showing of “La La Land” will take place at 1 p.m. Friday, April 28. Come and watch the winner of several Oscar awards, starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone with dancing and singing. Popcorn will be served, and registration is required. A Cookbook Club will meet at noon Saturday, April 29. This club is for those who are interested in cooking and talking about food. The theme for the first meeting is “favorites.” Registration is required. Lego Club, for ages 5-12, will meet from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday April 22, and Saturday, April 29. Library events

A craft will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 24. Participants can learn how to make colorful and fragrant bath bombs that melt in the bathtub. All supplies will be provided. The program is for adults, and registration isn’t required. A teen craft will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 26. Participants can create a catnip toy for their furry friend or donate to pets waiting for their “fur”ever homes. The program is for teens ages 13 to 18, and registration isn’t required. Story Times take place at 9:45 a.m. Wednesdays for babies; 11 a.m. Wednesdays for toddlers; and 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Thursdays for preschoolers. Registration is required for these programs. Library events

NFL Draft Predictions with Jay Skurski will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 20. Buffalo News sports reporter Jay Skurski will lead a discussion about what might happen in the 2017 NFL Draft. Registration is required. The library’s semiannual book sale will take place during operating hours Tuesday, April 25, through Saturday, April 29. The sale will feature books, DVDs and CDs, with no items more than $2. On Saturday only, there will be $5 bags of books. Laughter Yoga is held at 11 a.m. Thursdays. Dawn and Craig Werner lead participants through specialized laughing routines to keep them healthy and relaxed. Call the library for more information or to register for any of these events.
