Brian Dugan Road Race set for May 19

Community members will come together to celebrate Brian Dugan’s life and legacy at the annual Brian Dugan Memorial Scholarship Road Race on Friday, May 19.

The late Dugan was a father, husband, son, friend, coach and teacher. He was known for his sense of humor and his unique approach to teaching that motivated his students.

According to a prepared statement, he is also remembered for the degree to which he cared for his students inside and outside his classroom, where he was a role model to many.

The race will take place at Lincoln Arena, at 1200 Parker Blvd. in the Town of Tonawanda. It will consist of a 100-meter kids run at 5:45 p.m. and a 5K run/one-mile walk at 6:30 p.m.

Packet pickup and registration will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 18, and from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, May 19, the day of the race.

Registration costs $30 until May 18 and $40 the day of the race for adults. For students ages 18 and younger, registration is $15 until May 18 and $20 the day of the race. All proceeds will stay in the Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda community, funding scholarships for Kenmore West High School students.

The post-race party will include food, beverages, a raffle with more than 100 baskets and other big-ticket items, live music by the Knight Crew and children’s activities.
