Patriotism in the park

Joe Pawli Sr., top photo, right, and his son, Joe, stand in front of the Town of the Tonawanda Highway Department’s new plow truck, decorated to honor U.S. service members, at an in memoriam ceremony held Saturday at the Buffalo & Erie County Naval and Military Park. Pawli Sr. is a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War; his son is the commanding officer of the Sullivans Division U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps. The Buffalo natives are joined by their dog, Vader. A member of the Western New York Pathfinders, pictured left, places a flower as the names of the fallen soldiers are read during the event.
