Veterans Day ceremony planned

A Veterans Day ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, on the Municipal Green, directly in front of the Kenmore Municipal Building, 2919 Delaware Ave.

The annual event, to be held rain or shine, honors the nation’s veterans and active members of the military. Special tribute is given to POWs and MIAs, and those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in service to the country.

Veterans from the American Legion Milton J. Brounshidle Post 205 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Harry E. Crosby Post 2472 organized the ceremony.

Village offices will be closed on Friday, Nov. 10, for the official observance of Veterans Day.

Also on Nov. 11, there will be a veterans breakfast at 9 a.m. at the North Tonawanda Senior Center at 110 Goundry Street, to be followed by a brief ceremony at 11 a.m. on the Renaissance Bridge on Webster Street.

The same day, there is an open house event from noon to 4 p.m. at VFW Post 7545 at 110 Elgin St., between York Street and Walter Avenue, in the City of Tonawanda. There will be raffles and a bake sale.
