County seeks vendor to operate golf course restaurant

Niagara County’s Purchasing Division is issuing a Request for Proposals for a vendor to take over the operations of the Niagara County golf course’s clubhouse restaurant, according to Commissioner of Public Works Garret A. Meal.

“Our golf course remains a popular offering for the public, but to stay competitive, it needs to have all the amenities golfers are looking for,” Meal said. “That means offering a nice place to socialize and have a bite to eat after a round or nine holes.”

Proposals to operate the concession will be due to the county by 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28.

The Niagara County Legislature’s Infrastructure and Facilities Committee chairman, John Syracuse, R-Newfane, said the county is seeking applicants from throughout the region this year, hoping to find a vendor who “will maintain the same level of service our patrons expect.”

“This is a primarily seasonal business, but past operators have utilized the space all year long, and we encourage any vendor taking on this task to consider a 12-month business plan if they can enhance their profitability,” Syracuse said.

The concessionaire is expected to be on hand at the golf course from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily during days when the course is open for play.

“We’re hoping to find a vendor who believes they can provide quality and will see personal benefit from operating this space,” Syracuse said.

Detailed proposal specifications and forms are available, upon request, at the Department of Management & Budget, Division of Purchasing, Philo J. Brooks County Office Building, 59 Park Ave., Lockport.
