Tonawanda communities to celebrate Community Resource Hub Week

The Town of Tonawanda and North Tonawanda face various challenges, such as service connectivity, geographic barriers, poverty and lack of access to basic human needs-based services, according to the Mobile Safety Net Team.

In an effort to alleviate these gaps and to serve the needs of residents, community stakeholders have worked collaboratively with the Mobile Safety Net Team to offer the communities regular and consistent access to services in identified locations that are already serving the populations.

The Town of Tonawanda Coalition and the North Tonawanda

Coalition, convened by The John R. Oishei Foundation’s Mobile Safety Net Team, will be celebrating Community Resource Hub week from Friday, Dec. 15, to Thursday, Dec. 21, at the following locations:

10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Dec. 20, at the North Tonawanda Hub, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 265 Falconer St.

Noon to 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, at the Town of Tonawanda Hub, at the Kenmore Library, 160 Delaware Ave.

The hubs will be focused on season-related services, including weatherization programs and services, as well as HEAP applications for Niagara County residents. Other services may include legal services, health insurance providers, employment and job training programs, housing-related services, senior services and food assistance programs.

Additionally, the hubs are free to attend, and residents are encouraged to go to the hub that is most convenient to where they live.

For individual hub providers and activities scheduled for the above dates, individuals can visit the Mobile Safety Net Team Facebook page at www.facebook.com/mobilesafetynetteam. The Mobile Safety Net Team is the Basic Human Needs initiative of The John R. Oishei Foundation founded in 2009. The initiative seeks to strengthen the region’s safety net by assessing community-based human services, addressing access barriers and identifying areas of unmet need.
