Alumni Foundation announces scholarships, elects officers

Applications for the Kenmore West Alumni Foundation senior scholarships will be available starting Tuesday, Feb. 27.

Students can pick up an application from Valerie Bowman in the Career Center office. Applicants need to show an overall average of 80 percent or higher and be enrolled at Kenmore West for at least the past two years.

The Kenmore West Alumni Foundation’s central purpose is to identify and support outstanding current Kenmore West High School seniors with two- or four-year scholarships for college.

The foundation now grants scholarships totaling roughly $40,000 each year. Since its inception in 1992, the foundation has awarded some $500,000 to Kenmore West graduating seniors.

The due date for applications, as well as the required three reference letters, is Tuesday, April 10. Scholarship selections will be made by a committee and awarded at Senior Awards Night, which is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 22.

Additionally, the Kenmore West Alumni Foundation held its election last month. Bill Page and Paul Cramer were retained as president and treasurer, respectively, and Carol Steuernagel was elected co-secretary.
