Charles R. Gregoire, art director

Gregoire Gregoire Charles R. Gregoire, 88, of the Town of Tonawanda, died Friday, March 2, 2018.

Mr. Gregoire was born in Buffalo and grew up in Kenmore, where he graduated from Kenmore High School in 1947. He then went to the Pratt Art Institute in Brooklyn, New York, graduating in 1950.

He entered the U.S. Army on March 21, 1951, and served until March 20, 1953. He spent two years in the Korean War as a gunner in the anti-aircraft division. After his discharge in 1953, he married Patricia Powers, and they settled in the Town of Tonawanda. They were married for 55 years before she predeceased him in 2008.

Mr. Gregoire was an art director for many years at various ad agencies in Buffalo, including, Comstock, Faller, Klenk, Quinlan, and Quinlan and Friends. He designed the logo that is used by the Town of Tonawanda.

He volunteered with the Meals on Wheels program in the Town of Tonawanda and enjoyed bowling, tennis and golf with the members of the Town of Tonawanda Senior Center.

Mr. Gregoire is survived by five children, Michael, Scott, Richard, Robert, and Mary Patricia Whalen; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Roy and Donald Gregoire and Marilyn Schneggenburger.

A memorial Mass will take place at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 10, at the Buffalo State College Newman Center, 1219 Elmwood Ave., Buffalo. Arrangements were made by the D. Lawrence Ginnane Funeral Home.
