Community Foundation offers scholarships

The Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo’s 2011 competitive scholarship application is now available online at www.cfgb.org and can be submitted until Tuesday, March 1. Support materials from applicants are due Friday, April 1, and award recipients will be notified in July. Eligible students must be current residents of one of the eight counties in Western New York, have a grade-point average of 2.0 or higher and must be admitted to a nonprofit, U.S. Department of Education accredited school in the United States for full-time study at the undergraduate level.

UB students to provide free tax preparation

IRS-certified accounting students from the University at Buffalo School of Management will provide free tax preparation services to individuals and families with annual income below $49,000. Free tax preparation services will be offered from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis in 109 Allen Hall, South Campus, on Feb. 26 and 27 and March 5 and 6. Services also will be offered in 106 Jacobs Management Center (The John H. Shellum Room), North Campus, on March 26 and 27 and April 2, 3, 9 and 10. NAWBO to present Mega Mixer 2011

The National Association of Women Business Owners will present the “Each One Reach One Mega Mixer” from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, at Sean Patrick’s Restaurant, 3480 Millersport Highway, Getzville. This progressive dinner with facilitated networking gives every woman the opportunity to talk in depth about what she does. The cost is $30 for members and $35 for guests. Reservations must be received by Tuesday, March 1, and should be made online at www.nawbowny.org.
