Brighton Place hosting annual golf tournament

Brighton Place will hold its annual golf tournnament and cookout starting at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 7 at Rothland Golf Course, 12089 Clarence Center Road, Akron. Cost is $85 per person. All proceeds benefit Brighton Place Library. For more information, call Brighton Place at 332-4375.

Auxiliary hosting shopping event

The Kenmore Mercy Hospital Auxiliary will be hosting a shopping event, Hidden Treasurers, from 10 a.m, to 4 p.m. . Unique items for the home, garden, and babies will be offered in the hospital Atrium. Proceeds will benefit Kenmore Mercy Hospital.

Garage sale set at Christ Community

Christ Community Church is hosting a garage sale from 9 a.m. to noon on July 9 at the church, 70 Pearce Ave., Tonawanda. The event will feature clothing and household items. All items are available for free to those in who are in need. Call 861-1173.

TOPS weight-loss support offered weekly

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) #50 has a weight-loss support group that meets from 6:15 to 7 p.m. each Tuesday at the Zion Church of Christ, at the corner of Parker and Koenig roads. Individuals ages 16 and older are welcome. Weekly dues are $2. For more info., call 832-7935.

Ken-Ton Golf tournament set for July

The 17th annual Ken-Ton Schools Athletic Hall of Fame Golf Tournament is scheduled for Wednesday, July 27 at Sheridan Golf Course, located on Sheridan Drive near Two Mile Creek Road in the Town of Tonawanda. KVIS seeks public input at monthly meetings

Kenmore Village Improvement Society holds its general membership meetings at 7 p.m. the second Monday of each month at the Community Center in Mang Park, 135 Wilbur Ave., Kenmore. Essay contest to celebrate milestone

The Polish American Journal is holding an essay contest to celebrate its 100th anniversary. All high school students are welcome to submit an essay on the topic of “Methods to Promote Our Polish Heritage.” First place will receive $500; second place, $100; and third place, a Seiko shelf clock. Skating Club hosting learn to skate program

Buffalo Skating Club will be holding a Learn to Skate program at 6 p.m. each Thursday through Aug. 18 at the newly-renovated Tacoma Ice Rink, 156 Tacoma Ave., near Delaware Avenue, Buffalo. Classes are available for those three years old through adult, beginners to advanced. The sessions are 50 minutes and include 25 minutes of instruction and 25 minutes of practice.
