KVIS seeks help for village cleanup day

The Kenmore Village Improvement Society is seeking participants to help clean up the neighborhood.

The community volunteer group is holding its second annual Big Kenmore Clean Up from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 28..

The event has two parts — recycling and cleaning.

There will be an area set up from 9 a.m. to noon in front of the Wilbur Avenue Community Center, 135 Wilbur Avenue where residents can drop off recyclable materials.

Acceptable items include electronics, clothing, books, cellphones, eye glasses, household goods of all kinds, and hearing aids. Paint, chemicals, tires, medicines, or other caustic materials will not be accepted.

Volunteers of all ages are needed to weed, sweep, collect trash and clean public spaces in the Village.

“This is a great opportunity for families, individuals, or students needing volunteer hours to perform a very rewarding community service,” said KVIS President Melissa Foster.

Volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. at the Village Green, the area in front of the Village Municipal Building on Delaware Avenue. Garbage bags will be provided to participants.

Volunteers are asked to bring gloves; brooms and gardening tools to help tend to the small Delaware gardens.
