Ideal Weight classes scheduled weekly

Ida Shapiro will hold fitness classes at 6:15 p.m. every Tuesday at Zion United Church of Christ, at Parker Boulevard and Koenig Circle, Tonawanda. The classes feature visualizations, guest speakers and group support. To register, call 636-3698.

Friends of Father Joe to sponsor barbecue

Evans Center Firefighters and the Bowmansville Fire Company will hold a chicken barbecue, sponsored by Friends of Father Joe, from noon to 6 p.m. or until sold out on Sunday, Oct. 20, at the Bowmansville Fire Company, 36 Main St. The event will benefit the Franciscan Center. Dinners, including a half-chicken, two sides, a roll, drink and dessert, are $9. Takeout and presale are available. There will also be a theme basket auction, 50/50 raffle and large item raffle. KVIS seeks public input at monthly meetings

Kenmore Village Improvement Society holds its general membership meetings at 7 p.m. the second Monday of each month at the Community Center in Mang Park, 135 Wilbur Ave., Kenmore. MS Society NY Chapter hosting monster race

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society Upstate New York Chapter is launching a run/walk series across the state called, “Monster Scramble.” This chip-timed, Halloween themed race will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19 at Acacia Park Cemetery, 4215 Tonawanda Creek Road, in North Tonawanda. Runners pay a $25 pre-registration fee ($30 on the day of the event), or can opt to raise $100 in donations and have that fee waived. The registration fee for a walker (ages 3 and up) is $5. Support group for widows held monthly

For women that are experiencing loss of a husband or companion, the YMCA Tonawandas is hosting support group meetings for widowed women of all ages meet once a month, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on the first Wednesday at its facility, 49 Tremont St. in North Tonawanda. The group will be meeting in the living roomwith light refreshments available. There is no fee. Contact Nicole Ennett, program director at the YWCA to register, 692-5580.
