What's Going On

Hospital plans book sale Dec. 4-5 in atrium

Kenmore Mercy Hospital will hold a book sale, and sale of a variety of other items to give away as Christmas gifts, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, and Thursday, Dec. 5, in the atrium at the hospital, 2950 Elmwood Ave.

Holiday Sing-Along to take place Dec. 6

The annual Holiday Sing-Along will take place at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, at Crosby Field. This community event includes a bonfire, caroling, hot beverages and visit from St. Nick. This event is sponsored by the Village of Kenmore, the Town of Tonawanda Youth, Parks, and Recreation Department, and the Kenmore Merchant’s Association.

Blessed Sacrament Church to hold events

Blessed Sacrament Church will hold a “St. Nick Nite” from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at the church, 263 Claremont. It is a $25 ticket donation for the chance to win $10,000. The price also includes a meal. There will be gift baskets being raffled off, a 50/50 raffle and music. For more information, call 834-4282, or visit www.bsacrament.com.

Candlelight service to take place Dec. 8

A candlelight Christmas service will take place at 4 and 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, at First Trinity Lutheran Church, 1570 Niagara Falls Blvd., Tonawanda. A coffee hour will follow the service at 7 p.m. There will be babysitting for children younger than 5 years old. There will be a candlelight procession; choral and instrumental music; and congregational singing. A freewill offering will benefit Pioneer Camp and Retreat Center and Valparaiso University.

Historical Society to give presentation on churches

The Town of Tonawanda-Kenmore Historical Society will give a free presentation on the history of churches in the area at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, at the Tonawanda Historical Museum, 100 Knoche Road. Historians Graham Millar, John Percy and Ed Adamczyk will tell the story of the growth of the community’s religious life and will share photographs. For more information, call 873-5774.
