Kilijanski's Corner

by BRANDON KILIJANSKI, Reporter

There are many great story lines this spring in Ken-Ton, but the problem is that Mother Nature is giving us such a hard time. The consensus among many coaches that I talk to is that the spring season won’t truly start until after spring break. The fields just aren’t ready after the harsh winter, and now we have to deal with the potential of rain in the forecast.

For the first time, Kenmore West will host the Ken-Ton Softball Tournament on Saturday, May 10. Kenmore East, Cardinal O’Hara and Mount St. Mary’s will be battling it out against each other that day.

St. Joe’s and Mount St. Mary’s look to continue their recent dominance in baseball and lacrosse, respectively. The Ken East baseball team is dedicating this year in honor of longtime coach Bob Marafino. St. Joe’s lacrosse is dedicating its season in honor of former goalie Paul Englert. Cardinal O’Hara is hosting its annual Sean Patrick Scott Memorial Tournament on Saturday, May 3, and Sunday, May 4, for the baseball and softball teams to compete in.

I’m begging Mother Nature to please give us some nice warm, sunny weather so that we can get back to the spring sports we so dearly love to play and watch.
