Thomas J. Giambra, small-business owner

Giambra Giambra Thomas J. Giambra, formerly of Kenmore, died Saturday, April 25, 2015. He was 70 years old.

Born on Feb. 17, 1945, Mr. Giambra graduated from Hutchinson Technical Institute in 1963 and from Doyle Beauty School in 1964.

He began working at Austin’s Hair Salon, which was started by his brother, Austin, in 1960. When his brother went on to other business ventures, Mr.

Giambra became the sole proprietor.

Within the Kenmore community, Mr. Giambra owned and operated a number of businesses, most prominently Austin’s Hair Studio and FX Graphix, a screen printing, embroidering and graphic design company. He was an active member of the Ken-Ton Chamber of Commerce.

Over the years, he was also involved in the House of Carlton, Fernwood Associates and Isle Landings

Home Development of Grand Island, as well as developing the Waterford Park project, also in Grand Island.

Mr. Giambra and his wife, Penelope, joined the Buffalo Launch Club of Grand Island in 1996 and during his membership he served on various entertainment committees. His interests included traveling and landscape artistry.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Jay, John, James and Dean; and one daughter, Lisa Czajka.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held April 29 at St. Stephen Church. Arrangements were made by the D. Lawrence Ginnane Funeral Home.
