FOR A GOOD CAUSE — Franklin Middle School recently raised $2,700 through its “Drive for the Kids” fundraising event, held during the school’s Choral/Orchestra Concert.

Participants earned a $10 contribution to the school from the Chrysler brand by taking a brief test drive in a 2015 model Town & Country, Chrysler 200, or Chrysler 300 vehicle during the event.

Since its inception in 1993, the Chrysler brand’s “Drive for the Kids” program has contributed more than $6 million directly to local schools. The program has helped parents and educators in communities across the nation raise funds for everything from playgrounds and field trips, to reading programs and new computers.

CONGRATULATIONS — Three seniors from Cardinal O’Hara High School in the Town of Tonawanda were recently honored at the Erie-Niagara Superintendents’ Achievement Recognition Dinner at Salvatore’s Italian Gardens. The Scholastic Achievement recognition awards honored the top three seniors on a straight academic basis. O’Hara honorees included Katherine Czerwinski, Taylor Tedesco and Paige Currie.

In other news, the Song Corps from O’Hara recently competed at the annual Darien Lake band and chorus competition. The 45-member Song Corps took third place overall. In addition, Tim Brown and Jade King each took awards. Brown received the outstanding soloist award while King, a guitarist, earned outstanding accompanist award. The Song Corps is led by Eric Kemnitzer.
