St. Joe’s to offer new summer camp

St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute is offering a new summer camp for boys entering grades seven and eight.

Innovation Camp will explore different technologies each day inside the school’s Innovation Center adjacent to the main campus. The camp will run from 8:30 a.m. to noon from July 24 to 28.

According to a press release, the goal is to introduce skills in different areas, including robotics, game coding, virtual reality, 3D printing and drone flying, among others. The program was developed by St. Joe’s director of technology, Steve Koniarczyk.

“Each year, both our faculty and students are embracing more and more opportunities to integrate technology into all types of learning environments,” Koniarczyk said. “With a large, new space to encourage creativity and collaboration, we wanted to build a summer experience to share some of the innovative activities we’ve been successfully implementing in the high school.”

In addition to the St. Joe’s Technology Department staff, STEM educators from local middle schools will be serving as instructors throughout the week. The cost is $100, and space is limited to ensure a high-quality experience for all. A registration form can be downloaded at www.sjci.com/admissions.
