Erie County seedlings available

Order forms for the 2018 Conservation Tree and Shrub Seedling Sale are now available from the Erie County Soil and Water Conservation District.

This year, the district is offering 38 species of trees and shrubs, along with an expanded selection of 4-year-old evergreen transplants. According to the district, the evergreen transplants are more mature trees with thicker stems, more branching and more developed roots.

Among the new seedlings being introduced to the 2018 program are eastern redbud, quaking aspen, winterberry holly, swamp white oak and Black Hills spruce transplants.

Stock marking flags, fertilizer tablets and tree shelters will also be available at the district office. Along with trees and shrubs, bluebird nest boxes are available for order through the program and can also be purchased at the district office, located at 50 Commerce Way, East Aurora.

Order forms can be obtained by visiting the district office, calling 652-8480, ext. 5, or by printing the order form from the district website at www.ecswcd.org. Orders are due by March 16, and pickup will be on Saturday, April 21, at the fairgrounds located at 5600 McKinley Parkway in Hamburg.
