Two Tonawanda businesses cited

Town of Tonawanda police conducted an underage vaping sales sting operation on Thursday, resulting in two businesses being cited for the alleged sale of liquid nicotine to minors.

According to police, Town of Tonawanda officers tested the sale of liquid nicotine (tobacco) products to an underage decoy at all four of the designated “vape shops” within the town.

Police said the businesses cited for selling to minors were Chain Vapors, at 894 Brighton Road, and Yeti Vape, at 2327 Sheridan Drive.

Employees at both locations were issued appearance tickets in connection with violations of the New York State Public Health Law prohibiting the sale of tobacco or nicotine products to persons less than 18 years of age.

According to police, fines for underage tobacco or nicotine product sales range from $300 to $1,000 for a first-time offense. Repeat offenders also face possible suspension or revocation of their licenses.

The employees from both locations are due in Tonawanda Town Court before Judge J. Mark Gruber at 5:30 p.m. on March 6.
