NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a Public Hearing of the inhabitants of the Sweet Home Central School District of Amherst and Tonawanda, qualified to vote at School Meetings of said District will be held at the Sweet Home High School, 1901 Sweet Home Road, in said school district on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. (EDST), for the purpose of discussion on the expenditure of funds and the budgeting thereof for the year 2018–2019.

And Notice is also given that the annual meeting and election of the Sweet Home Central School District, Erie County, New York, will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 from 7:00 am (EDST) to 9:00 pm (EDST) at the Norman Vergils Community Center, located at the north end of the high school behind the District Office for the purpose of voting on the budget for the 2018-19 fiscal year and electing one member of the Board of Education for a five-year term. Applications for absentee ballots may be obtained from the Office of the School District Clerk, 1901 Sweet Home Road, Amherst, New York. Completed applications for absentee ballots must be received by the School District Clerk’s Office on or before May 8, 2018 if the absentee ballot is to be mailed to the voter for completion. Applications may be filed on or before May 14, 2018 if the absentee ballot is to be picked up by the voter at the District Clerk’s Office. Completed absentee ballots must be received by the District Clerk’s Office by 5:00 p.m. on the day of the vote. A list of persons to whom absentee ballots have been issued will be available in the Office of the School District Clerk on each of the five days prior to the election during regular office hours [Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.] and posted at the polling place on election day.

And Notice is also given that the petitions nominating candidates for the office of member of the Board of Education must be filed with the Clerk of the District between the hours of 8:00 a.m. (EDST) and 5:00 p.m. (EDST) no later than Monday, April 16, 2018. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of Education will hold a public hearing to present the budget of the necessary funds to meet estimated expenditures for the 2018-2019 fiscal year for school purposes on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at 6:30 p.m. (EST) at the Kenmore Middle School Building Community Room, 155 Delaware Rd., Kenmore, New York.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that pursuant to Section 1716 of the Education Law, the Board of Education of the District will have prepared and completed a detailed statement in writing of the amount of money which will be required for the 2018-2019 fiscal year, for school purposes, exclusive of public moneys, specifying the several purposes and the amount of each, and copies of such statement will be available, upon request, to District residents during the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. (EST) on or after May 1, 2018 (except Saturdays, Sundays and holidays), at each of the school buildings in the District, at the District’s Administration Building, 1500 Colvin Boulevard, Town of Tonawanda, New York, and at the voting location.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the annual meeting and election of the Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda Union Free School District will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. (EST) for the purposes of voting, by voting machine, on the appropriation of the necessary funds to meet the District’s estimated expenditures for the fiscal year commencing July 1, 2018 and ending June 30, 2019; and electing one (1) member of the Board of Education. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that personal registration of voters is required either pursuant to Section 2014 of the Education Law or pursuant to Article 5 of the Election Law. If a voter has registered pursuant to Section 2014 of the Education Law and has voted at an annual or special district meeting within the last four (4) calendar years, he/she is eligible to vote at this election; if a voter is registered and eligible to vote under Article 5 of the Election Law, he/she is also eligible to vote at this election. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the Board of Registration will meet for the purpose of registering all qualified voters of the District at the Administration Building, 1500 Colvin Boulevard, Town of Tonawanda, New York on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. (EST) and again on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and noon (EST) to add any additional names to the Register to be used at the aforesaid election, at which time any person will be entitled to have his/her name placed on such Register, provided that at such meeting of the Board of Registration he/she is known or proven to the satisfaction of said Board of Registration to be then or thereafter entitled to vote at such election for which the Register is prepared. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the vote upon the appropriation of the necessary funds to meet the estimated expenditures for the Kenmore Town of Tonawanda Union Free School District for the 2018-2019 school fiscal year will be presented as PROPOSITION NO. 1 at the election held as above specified.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the following PROPOSITION NO. 2 related to the purchase of buses and equipment will be presented for a vote at such meeting: the Board of Education of the Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda Union Free School District, Erie County, New York (the “Dis- trict”), is hereby authorized to purchase school buses (and related equipment) for use in the transportation program of the District, including nine (9) thirty (30)-passenger buses, at an estimated maximum cost of $60,132 each and three (3) twenty four (24)-passenger wheel chair type buses, at an estimated maximum cost of $71,176 each, and to expend therefor an aggregate sum not to exceed $754,716; and that the sum of $754,716 (which may include certain up-front financing costs and is the total of the aforesaid estimated maximum cost figures), plus an amount for interest thereon, shall be funded by the levy of a tax upon the taxable property of the District and collected in annual installments as provided by Section 416 of the Education Law; and in anticipation of such tax, bonds or other obligations (including, without limitation, obligations arising under leases, lease/purchase contracts or installment purchase contracts having a term of not more than five years) of the District shall be issued or entered into in accordance with applicable provisions of New York State law, and that New York State Transportation Aid funds expected to be received by the District are anticipated to offset a substantial part of such costs, and such funds, to the extent received, shall be applied to offset and reduce the amount of taxes herein authorized to be levied.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the following PROPOSITION NO. 3 related to the sale of the Philip Sheridan Building will be presented for a vote at such meeting: that the Board of Education of the Kenmore Tonawanda Union Free School District is hereby authorized to sell school district property known as the former Philip Sheridan School, located at 3200 Elmwood Avenue, Kenmore, NY 14217, being a portion of Tax Map No. 66.21-7-17, consisting of an approximately 72,536 square foot building and 7.98 +/- acres of land, which is no longer needed for School District purposes, at a price of One Million Forty Nine Thousand Seventeen Dollars ($1,049,017.00) upon the terms and conditions approved by the Board.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that there shall be conducted at such Annual School District Meeting and Election voting for the election of one (1) member of the Board of Education. The one (1) candidate who receives the highest number of votes shall be elected to a term of three (3) years commencing July 1, 2018 and expiring June 30, 2021.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that pursuant to Section 2018 of the Education Law, petitions nominating candidates for the office of member of the Board of Education shall be filed in the Office of the District Clerk of the District, 1500 Colvin Boulevard, Town of Tonawanda, New York, Monday through Friday (except holidays) between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. (EST), not later than Monday, April 16, 2018. Vacancies on the Board of Education are not considered separate, specific offices; candidates run at large. Nominating petitions shall not describe any specific vacancy upon the Board for which the candidate is nominated; must be directed to the Clerk of the District; must be signed by at least two percent (2%) of the voters voting in the last annual election (such two percent (2%) equals thirty (30) voters of the District); must state the name and residence of each signer, and must state the name and residence of the candidate. Candidates must be a qualified voter of the District and have been a resident in the District for at least one year prior to election.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that applications for absentee ballots can be obtained between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. (EST), Monday through Friday, (except holidays) from the Office of the District Clerk, 1500 Colvin Boulevard, Town of Tonawanda, New York. Completed applications must be received by the District Clerk or her designee at least seven (7) days before the Annual School District Meeting and Election (May 8, 2018) if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the Annual School District Meeting and Election (May 14, 2018) if the ballot is to be personally issued to the voter. Completed absentee ballots must be received in the Office of the District Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. (EST) on May 15, 2018.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that a list of persons to whom absentee ballots are issued will be available for inspection to qualified voters of the District in the Office of the District Clerk on and after May 10, 2018 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. (EST), Monday through Friday, (except holidays). Any qualified voter may, upon examination of such list, file a written challenge of the qualifications as a voter of any person whose name appears on such list, stating the reasons for such challenge.
