Hardwick secures Summer Primetime funding

The Erie County Legislature unanimously approved funding that will benefit summer youth and recreation programs throughout the county, including organizations in Legislator Kevin Hardwick’s district.

Summer Primetime funding was secured for the following organizations:

• $7,500 for the Boys and Girls Club of Northtowns

• $7,500 for the Town of Tonawanda recreation

“These programs offer valuable resources and educational opportunities during summer recess, which benefit both children and their families,” Hardwick said of his support.

According to Robert O’Brocta, chief professional officer of the Northtowns Boys and Girls Club, the funding will be geared for the career readiness program for area teens.

“The newly designed LIT program (Leaders in Training) will offer a variety of services in the community to assist over 100 mainly Black Rock and Riverside teens,” O’Brocta said, adding that the club appreciates Hardwick’s assistance in all the areas the club serves.

The Boys and Girls Club of the Northtowns served more than 5,200 youth last year throughout Buffalo and its northern suburbs.

Determination of Summer Primetime funding is coordinated through the Department of Social Services, and the final proposal is requested by the County Executive’s office.
