Unyts to hold blood drive in Tonawanda

The Tonawanda community is teaming up with Unyts to ensure that blood products are available for patients in need this summer.

The demand for blood tends to outpace supply during the summer season, but Western New Yorkers have an opportunity to change that trend at a Unyts blood drive sponsored by the Town of Tonawanda.

On Wednesday, July 11, the blood drive will run from 1 to 7 p.m. at the Brighton Fire Department at 50 Jamaica Road. All presenting donors will receive a T-shirt.

“I would like to challenge all of my brother and sister firefighters in our area, and their family members, to stop in and donate on the 11th,” said Brighton Fire Commissioner Walter Byers, an ambassador for this community blood drive.

“Being an active member responding to various emergencies in the community, this is just as important. Every one of us has a very busy schedule; this only takes a few minutes of your time. Please help Brighton reach our goal.”

To schedule an appointment to donate blood, please contact Unyts at 512-7940, or you can sign up online at www.unyts.org and click on Donate Blood. Walk-ins are welcome.
