NT Botanical Garden plans workday

The North Tonawanda Botanical Garden Organization is sponsoring a community work day that will take place from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 15, at the North Tonawanda Botanical Gardens, 1825 Sweeney St., North Tonawanda. The work day will be focused on tackling ongoing projects and qualifies for North Tonawanda High School community service hours. Participants are asked to bring gloves and dress for the weather. Historian to present ‘Bridges of Niagara’

Former Tonawanda historian John Percy will give a presentation titled “Bridges of Niagara” at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, at the Tonawanda Kenmore Historical Society, 100 Knoche Road, Tonawanda. The free presentation will include illustrations of the many bridges built on the U.S.-Canadian border at Niagara Falls since 1848.

Olive oil sale coming to Kenmore Mercy

A variety of olive oils and sauces from the House of Olives will be sold from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, in the atrium of Kenmore Mercy Hospital. The public is welcome to attend this event, sponsored by the hospital’s auxiliary.

Kenmore Garden Club to meet Sept. 18

The Kenmore Garden Club will meet at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, in Kenmore United Methodist Church, 32 Landers Road, Kenmore. During the meeting, the club’s garden therapy committee will show visitors from the McAuley Residence how to make scented sachets with dried flowers.

Grief support meeting set for Sept. 19

The next session of the 13-week series “Grief Share: Your Journey from Mourning to Joy” will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, at First Trinity Lutheran Church, 1570 Niagara Falls Blvd., Tonawanda. The session’s topic will be caring for grieving children. To register, call the church’s office at 835-2220.

Skating lesson signup scheduled

Registration for ice skating lessons offered by the Town of Tonawanda Youth, Parks and Recreation Department will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, in Lincoln Arena, 1200 Parker Blvd., Tonawanda. Lessons cost $50, which must be paid to skating instructors at the time of registration. Lessons will then be offered at the arena from 10 to 11:15 a.m. Saturdays and from noon to 1:15 p.m. Sundays, running from Oct. 13 through Nov. 11. For more information, visit www.ttypr.com.
