NT church collecting gift boxes for Operation Christmas Child

This month, the Pendleton Center United Methodist Church, 6864 Campbell Blvd., North Tonawanda, will be one of 5,000 U.S. drop-off locations collecting gift-filled shoe boxes for children overseas during Operation Christmas Child’s National Collection Week.

The church will open its doors from Monday, Nov. 12, through Monday, Nov. 19, to collect boxes filled with toys, school supplies and hygiene items for the project, run by Samaritan’s Purse. The collection will contribute to Operation Christmas Child’s 2018 goal of reaching 11 million children in need.

The project partners with local churches across the globe to deliver tangible expressions of God’s love to children affected by war, disease, disaster, poverty and famine.

According to Samaritan’s Purse, the boxes will be the first gift that many of these children have ever received.

Specific hours for National Collection Week at Pendleton Center United Methodist are as follows:

• 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12; Tuesday, Nov. 13; Wednesday, Nov. 14; Thursday, Nov. 15; and Friday, Nov. 16.

• 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17

• 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, Nov. 18

• 10 a.m. to noon Monday, Nov. 19
