— Firefighters and local officials are shown in front of the North Tonawanda Fire Department’s new light rescue vehicle. From left are firefighters Edward Yaminski and Robert Orlowski; Fire Chief Joe Sikora; state Sen. Rob Ortt; Mayor Arthur Pappas; Alderman-at-Large Bob Pecoraro; 1st Ward Alderman Mark Berube; and City Attorney Luke Brown. The vehicle, which replaces an 8-year-old model, was purchased following a $100,000 grant from Ortt and a $100,000 contribution from the City of North Tonawanda. The new vehicle holds rescue equipment, such as spare air bottles that firefighters use for breathing and the “Jaws of Life” tool for car accidents. 5p1.jpg
